Pristina is located in the north-eastern part of Kosovo, at 42°40′N 21°10′E, at an elevation of 696 meters (2,285 ft). It lies on the old route of the Via Militaris that connected Constantinople and Singidunum.
The municipality of Pristina has a total area of 513 km2 (198 sq mi), while the city itself has a total area of 48 km2 (19 sq mi).
Pristina experiences a hot-summer humid continental climate. Due to its location and elevation, the city has cooler average temperatures than most other cities in Kosovo. The average annual temperature in Pristina is 13.5 °C (56.3 °F).
Pristina has a number of parks and gardens, the largest of which is Germia Park. Other parks include Zahir Pajaziti Square, Skanderbeg Statue Park, and the Newborn Monument.
The city also has a number of museums, including the Kosovo Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, and the National Gallery of Kosovo.
